Draft — to be reviewed by the site owner before launch.
The standard
This site aims to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 at level AA.
What we did
- Semantic markup: landmarks, one main heading per page, a skip link, labelled navigation and form fields.
- Everything works with the keyboard alone, with a visible focus ring.
- Text and controls keep a contrast of at least 4.5:1 in the light and the dark colour scheme.
- Pictures have text alternatives; the screenshots are described in their captions.
- The site works without JavaScript; motion stops when the device asks for reduced motion.
- An accessibility toolbar (the round button in the corner) lets you enlarge text, widen spacing, switch to a readable font, raise the contrast, use greyscale or inverted colours, highlight links, enlarge the cursor, stop animations, use a reading guide or hide images. Your choices are kept in your browser.
Known limits
- The admin screenshots on the home page show text as pictures; their captions summarise what they show.
- Pages on GitHub, which we link to, follow GitHub's own accessibility.
